Our Services

Stewards of Children

Stewards of Children is an adult-focused, evidenced-informed training that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. It was created by Darkness to Light. The training is normally $10 but in some locations, grant funding makes the training free.

Mandated Reporter
Training

Every state has designated certain professions and individuals as "mandated reporters." If you are a mandated reporter you are required by law to report any disclosure or suspicion of child abuse to child protective services. Failure to report is a misdemeanor crime. In some states, everyone is a mandated reporter. In some states, only professionals who serve children are required to report. In others, volunteers, such as church nursery workers are mandated reporters. It is essential that every organization understands the mandated reporter laws of the state and how to fulfill that requirement. We can help you understand and comply with this important issue.

Policy and Procedure
Review and Consultation

It is imperative that organizations have child protection policies and procedures in place. This is a proven way to increase protection for children and the adults who serve them. We focus primarily on helping churches write and implement child protection documents. We provide a lot of free material as well as consultation services. SOON TO COME:
Building Trauma-Informed Programs

We are about to undergo extensive training on how to help organizations become more trauma-informed. Once we have received this training we will be able to help you and your organization understand the widespread impact of trauma on your staff, volunteers and those you serve. We will be able to help you understand the signs and symptoms of trauma and potential paths for recovery. We also will be able to help integrate an understanding of trauma into your policies, procedures, and practices.

"Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say 'My tooth is aching' than to say 'My heart is broken.'"      C.S.Lewis
